One Simple Exercise Can Do So Much Including Better Posture and Back Pain Relief!

The other day I shared on this website the latest research results on the effectiveness of Pilates for back problems and once again science confirms that Pilates is better than any other back therapy for pain relief and increased mobility. This is one of the reasons I refer to Joseph Pilates who invented this unique and popular exercise method nearly 100 years ago, the ‘Einstein of Fitness!’

This one exercise can do so much including lower back pain relief and improved posture.

In an age where sitting down and staring at screens has taken over most of our lives, it’s no wonder that our posture is getting worse and worse….

Lucky for us there are many simple ways we can begin to improve and correct our posture. One simple and effective tip is to exercise the muscles that are used when standing in a natural, beneficial position. Here is one exercise you can do to strengthen those muscles. This is called a lying back extension or in yoga referred to as the locust pose….Step 1:
Lie down on your stomach with your face down, forehead touching the floor.

Step 2:
Extend your legs straight behind you, hip-width apart. Press your weight evenly across the tops of both feet.

Step 3:
Gently lift the front part of your body with your head up. Do this slowly, and only lift as high as is comfortable.
